Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), Ranking Member of the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs, introduced the Trumpflation Tracker today, a new monthly dashboard designed to provide Americans with insights into the economic pressures affecting families during Donald Trump’s presidency.

Warren criticized Trump’s economic policies, stating, "Donald Trump promised to lower costs on day one. Instead he has spent his Presidency creating an affordability crisis, and now he’s calling his self-made crisis a hoax." She emphasized that the tracker aims to reveal to families the added costs stemming from what she describes as Trump’s and Republicans’ failed economic strategies.

According to the Trumpflation Tracker, cumulative inflation has risen by 5.2% since December 2024, costing the average American household approximately $3,388 in increased expenses. Specific categories detailing these costs include:

- Residential electricity prices have increased by 12.7%, resulting in an average additional cost of $222 per household.

- Gas prices have surged by 43.7%, adding about $758 to household expenses.

- Grocery prices have risen by 3.7%, translating to an extra $211.

- Health care costs have climbed by 14.6%, costing households an estimated $929 more.

- Rent has gone up by 5.1%, increasing expenses by $256.

- Child care has also seen a rise of 7.6%, adding $852 to household budgets.

- Mortgage rates have reached 7.6%, up from 5.99% before the onset of Trump’s Iran War, equating to an additional $4,330 expense for homeowners.

The Trumpflation Tracker will also track wage growth, job growth, and household debt, while highlighting the financial implications of Trump’s broken promise to cap credit card interest rates.

Updates to the dashboard will be provided monthly as new economic data becomes available, combining key measures that affect household finances, including inflation and the costs of essential services such as rent and health care.

In previous months, Warren and her committee have reported on how inflation under Trump has adversely impacted American families, highlighting a $2,120 increase in expenses in 2025 due to inflation driven by chaotic tariffs. Reports have also explored the costs associated with the Trump Administration’s policies, detailing significant financial burdens on consumers.
