Under the theme “Digital Finance for AI-Driven Economies,” this year's Sibos will highlight a crucial shift from experimental frameworks to the deployment of real-time financial ecosystems. The agenda will explore five key subthemes.

A central focus will be on agentic AI, as financial institutions move from data analysis to utilizing autonomous systems capable of managing trade negotiations and liquidity without human intervention. This evolution raises questions regarding accountability, especially concerning how to verify the intent of AI systems in trading scenarios.

SmartStream Technologies CEO Akber Jaffer, who will participate in a panel discussing agentic capital markets, underscored the need for a blend of robust technology and deterministic systems to ensure banks can maintain control and accountability.

Another vital topic will be the tokenization of digital assets. In Miami, discussions will center on unified ledgers and the integration of different chains as financial institutions start using programmable wallets to replace outdated accounting methods. The convergence of central bank digital currencies and tokenized deposits with existing technologies will necessitate the development of connections between traditional messaging and rapid digital platforms.

The T+1 liquidity squeeze will also feature prominently. With global settlement cycles becoming shorter, banks face immense pressure to avoid errors in intraday funding and collateral management, particularly as financial activities span across different time zones.

Corporate banking is also confronting significant challenges, particularly as embedded banking services in ERP systems could reduce visibility. Institutions must navigate this landscape carefully to maintain relevance while ensuring effective cash management functions at scale.

Finally, the topic of quantum risks will be addressed, considering the potential threats posed by quantum technology to current encryption methods. The need for financial institutions to transition to post-quantum cryptography will be emphasized, as securing autonomous trades and tokenized assets is essential for the stability of the financial system.

Sibos 2026 will illustrate the imperative for digital finance to adapt and advance in an accelerating economy, emphasizing the importance of speed, intelligence, and resilience in the global financial landscape.
